Austin Mattox
President

President, Austin Mattox, has been involved with Mattox C oins and Currency since interning as a high school student.  Austin took over as president in 2018 and continues to maintain the exceptional level of service our clients up and down the east coast have come to expect. He is an expert in US and World coins and Currency; as well as being regarded as one of the top experts in world banknotes internationally. Austin also handles gold, silver and platinum for the business.

Austin received bachelors degrees in both international studies and psychology from East Carolina University. During his time in university he was an exchange student in Wroclaw, Poland where he studied Polish history and art. After graduating, he spent two years living in Turkey, teaching English as a second language and learning Turkish.

Austin Mattox was named co-owner of Mattox Coins and Stamps in November, 2011. Austin also serves as the President of the International Bank Note Society for the North Carolina Chapter.

Doug Mattox
Vice President

Founder and  Vice President, Doug Mattox, has 50 years experience in dealing, appraising, and collecting coins and stamps (See our client list). Mr. Mattox is the Estate Advisor for the American Philatelic Society. He is also a representative for the Professional Coin Grading Service, Numismatic Guarantee Corporation, and American Numismatic Association Certificaiton Service.

Doug began his career in 1953 as a philatelic and numismatic collector and show exhibitor. From 1964 until 1975 he was a bourse dealer and grader and describer to the American Airpost Company.

In 1976, Doug became the principal in his own coin and stamp firm. From 1976 to present his corporation has been involved in buying and selling coins, stamps, and autographs on a wholesale and retail level.

Doug also has vast experience at writing auction lots and working as an auction agent in coins, stamps, and autographs on an international level.

Doug holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a split major in American History and Music Composition and Theory from North Carolina State University.
